Sheep Breeding

A demonstration activity of the Ranch.

One of the demonstration activities of the Ranch is sheep breeding; our sheep are dairy sheep. We have been selectively breeding our flock for decades, so it is well adapted to the Istrian climate and conditions. The sheep graze on fenced pastures. In winter and during the summer drought they get additional hay, and barley during lambing. Following Istrian tradition, lamb is prepared for Easter. During spring, summer and autumn the sheep spend their time exclusively on pastures, and in winter they spend the nights in the barn on deep straw bedding.
